One dead, two hospitalized after apartment fire in Forsyth, authorities say
One person was killed and two others were hospitalized after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Forsyth Wednesday afternoon, the Forsyth Fire Department said in a release.
The fire broke out at the Union Hill Apartments and first responders arrived around 3:30 p.m.
Firefighters found a person dead inside an apartment that was “heavily involved” in the fire, according to the release. The release did not identify the victim.
Two other people were transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
Witnesses saw someone jumping from the second floor of the building to escape the fire prior to first responders arriving, the release said.
Preliminary investigation showed that the fire originated on the first floor and then moved into the second floor and attic space at the top of the building, the release said.
The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire in conjunction with the Forsyth Fire Department, the release said.
The Telegraph has reached out to the Forsyth Fire Department for further comment.
