It’s 2026 and that means it’s the year of the Winter Olympics, which is beginning very soon.
This year, there are 232 athletes competing in the Winter Olympics for Team USA, making this one of the biggest groups to ever compete.
While numerous states are represented in the Winter Olympics, there are some states with more athletes than others. So, how many Team USA athletes are there from Georgia? Here’s what to know:
Who is the Team USA athlete from GA in the 2026 Winter Olympics?
Her name is Elana Meyers Taylor, she’s 41 years old and her hometown is Douglasville, Georgia. She’s on Team USA as a bobsledder and her specialty is two-woman bobsledding.
According to Team USA’s website, Taylor’s “earliest memory of the Olympics was 1996 when she got to hold the torch as an 11-year-old girl.”
Most impressively, Taylor has five medals (three silver and two bronze), which is more than any other Black athlete in Winter Olympics history.
How to watch the 2026 Winter Olympics
The 2026 Winter Olympics starts on Friday, Feb. 6 and runs through Sunday, Feb. 22. The Opening Ceremony will be live on NBC and Peacock on Friday, Feb 6 at 2p.m. E.T. and a prime time encore presentation will air at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
The games will be available to watch daily on NBC and Peacock.
