An accident involving a flatbed truck shut down an area of Interstate 75 Wednesday afternoon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

An oversized load on a semicommercial vehicle “partially slid off the flatbed” around 1 p.m., the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The driver “immediately stopped” and called 911, deputies said.

The incident happened on the on-ramp of I-75 North at Eisenhower Parkway and traffic was blocked until around 3:45 p.m., deputies said.

The sheriff’s office initially urged drivers to avoid I-75 North and Interstate 16 from Eisenhower Parkway, and instead use ramps at Pio Nono Avenue, Rocky Creek Road and Mercer University Drive.

No one was injured and no other vehicles were damaged, according to the release.

The BCSO’s Traffic Division was investigating the scene, deputies said.
