‘Heavy hearts.’ Ryland Environmental speaks on employee’s death in Macon
Ryland Environmental has released a statement after one of the company’s workers was killed in an incident with a trash truck over the weekend.
Chad Williams, 45, was hit by a garbage truck Jan. 3 while another driver was reversing the truck, and was taken to a hospital where he later died, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Williams’ death “strikes deeply for every person, and we are coming together to make sure each person is taken care of at this time,” according to John Nail, general manager of Ryland Environmental, where Williams worked.
Employees of Ryland Environmental met Monday morning to honor the former employee, and they “began work with heavy hearts but determination,” according to John Nail, the general manager.
“They take pride in serving this community,” Nail said. “As a result, we don’t expect major impacts to scheduled pickup.”
Nail thanked emergency crews for their response and efforts on Jan. 3, as well as “the people of Macon-Bibb for their continued prayers for Chad’s family and co-workers.”
The incident was under investigation. Anyone with information about the accident is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
