Baldwin County judge arrested, charged with DUI, Georgia troopers say
A Baldwin County judge and attorney who deals with DUIs was charged Saturday with driving under the influence, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Chief Magistrate Judge Shane Michael Geeter, 71, was pulled over after he allegedly veered outside his lane on Georgia State Route 212 around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to an email from Capt. Crystal Zion, a public information officer for GSP.
“The Trooper made contact with the driver … and had reason to believe he was under the influence of alcoholic beverages,” Zion told The Telegraph.
The Milledgeville man was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane, Zion said. He was booked into the Baldwin County Jail.
He bonded out for $1,000 on Sunday, according to a booking report from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, which oversees the detention center.
Geeter offers legal aid in family law, adoption, DUIs, wills, trusts and estates, according to his website.
