A car crash in north Macon Friday evening killed a woman and hospitalized a man, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The crash happened along I-475 near Zebulon road just after 5 p.m. when the car’s driver, 54-year-old Tammi Lamar, lost control. The car ran off the road and overturned, ejecting Lamar.

Lamar’s passenger, an 86-year-old man, remained inside the vehicle and had to be removed by fire and rescue, the release said. Both of them were taken to a hospital.

Tammi Lamar was later pronounced dead. The passenger was in stable conditions, the sheriff’s office said.
