GA has one of most rodent infested cities in the US for 2025, study says. Here’s where it ranks

With temperatures turning colder around the country, more rodents will pop up and seek shelter in buildings, homes and yards.

However, some U.S. cities are far more prone to rodent activity than others and a new report shows exactly which cities are hotspots for them, as well as which cities are seeking the most help for rodent prevention.

So, how did GA stack up? Well, let’s check it out:

Which GA city is a hotspot for rodents?

Atlanta, Georgia made the list at number 17, but there’s still good news: the list made by Yelp experts highlighted Atlanta (and other rodent hotspot cities) for its prevention measures, too.

Yelp experts said that cities like Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago are some of the most rodent infested areas, but with searches for pest control in each area, people are actively looking for expert help.

“Whether you’re in a skyscraper, historic brownstone, or a beachfront bungalow, rats, mice, and their relatives may invite themselves in. Luckily, trusted local pest control experts are just a click away on Yelp, ready to handle any critter concerns quickly and confidently,” according to the study.

Although Atlanta made the list at number 17, here are the top 10 based on Yelp search results:

  • Los Angeles, CA
  • San Francisco, CA
  • New York, NY
  • Chicago, IL
  • Washington, DC
  • Seattle, WA
  • Dallas, TX
  • Austin, TX
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Boston, MA

How to keep rodents away from your home

Rodents breed fast, so it’s crucial to get them out and gone before things get out of control.

“One pair of breeding mice can potentially lead to millions more in a year,” said experts at the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.

Unsure if you have rodents or mice around? Here are signs to look for, according to the University:

  • If you see droppings or markings like scratches or tooth marks, which indicate gnaw marks from rodents. 
  • Also look for burrows, tracks or nests. 
  • In addition, be aware of any unusual odor.
