Macon road temporarily closed after two severely injured in crash, deputies say
Two people were severely injured in a crash that temporarily shut down a major Macon road Sunday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.
Two vehicles collided “head-on” on Pio Nono Avenue near the Spencer Circle intersection, deputies said in a news release.
A 911 call reported the crash just after 1 a.m. Sunday. One driver was in a Honda reportedly driving north on Pio Nono Avenue, while another driver was heading south when the two vehicles collided, the sheriff’s office said.
The Honda driver, a passenger in the Honda and the driver in the other vehicle each went to a medical center for treatment after the collision.
Medical staff told deputies the Honda driver and their passenger were in “critical but stable condition,” a news release said.
The driver in the other vehicle was in “stable condition,” deputies said.
The crash was still under investigation Monday morning.
Anyone with information related to the collision was urged to call the sheriff’s office and ask to speak with a fatality investigator at 478-751-7500.
