Man found dead in Monroe County house fire. Officials investigate.

Monre County officials say they were called to a house fire Thursday afternoon and found a man dead inside the home once they extinguished the flames.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Monroe County Fire Department and the City of Forsyth Fire Department responded to a house fire on Lakeside Drive at approximately 3:39 p.m. on Thursday. After the fire was extinguished, “a male body was found,” deputies said.

The sheriff’s office is contacting the man’s family and will identify him once they are notified.

This incident remained under investigation Friday. Anyone with information on the fire is encouraged to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 478-994-7048.
