12-foot alligator ‘put up a fight’ but Macon officers capture it at local business
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office got an unusual call for an unwelcome guest at a business in Macon over the weekend.
The BCSO Animal Enforcement agency was called out to wrangle up an alligator on Joe Tamplin Industrial Boulevard the morning of May 31, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
“The alligator, who crawled up to the business overnight, was not happy to be removed and put up a fight,” the sheriff’s office said, “but was captured and released unharmed back into the wild.”
The sheriff’s office said Animal Enforcement Officer Rebecca Galeazzo called for backup to get help on the call. Several other officers, as well as the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, showed up to the scene.
Photo and video showed first responders restraining the gator with rope. The sheriff’s office said the gator was 12 feet long.
