Pedestrian dead after a crash on Macon highway, deputies investigate
A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car while walking on Interstate 75 in Macon Sunday morning, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies described it as an accident, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
They were dispatched to a traffic crash just before 6 a.m. on I-75 Northbound near the Pio Nono Avenue entrance ramp, the news release said.
A 34-year-old man was driving a 2008 Honda Accord and “did not see the male pedestrian walking in his lane of travel on the interstate and struck him,” deputies said.
The Bibb County Coroner’s Office pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, according to deputies. They would not release the victim’s name until his family was notified of his death.
The Honda driver was not facing any charges as of Monday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
The accident was still under investigation Monday morning.
