Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV in Lizella. Deputies identify victim.

A pedestrian was killed in a fatal road accident Thursday morning in Lizella, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

Christopher Davis, a 53-year-old Macon man, was walking on a quiet road in a wooded neighborhood when he was struck by a Plymouth SUV, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene around 12:45 a.m. on the 7300 block of Knoxville Road.

They found Davis, whose name was announced Friday afternoon, “unresponsive,” the news release said. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced him dead at the scene.

Davis’ family was notified by Friday, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

The incident was still under investigation. Deputies urged anyone with information related to the crash to call the sheriff’s office and ask to speak with a fatality investigator at 478-751-7500.
