When, where Macon drivers can get automatic tickets for school zone speeding
Now that the Bibb County school zone speeding cameras are back in use, drivers can be automatically ticketed for speeding in more than a dozen school zones two hours before and after school hours in most of Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
People will only be cited for driving 11 mph or more above the posted speed limit, deputies said.
Two schools, Stratford Academy and First Presbyterian Day School, “specifically asked for their speed cameras to be turned off, meaning that speeding citations will not be issued via camera in those school zones,” the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office announced all hours and locations where the citations will be issued Tuesday. The program took effect Monday at 6 a.m. after Sheriff David Davis suspended it for about a month. Here’s what to know about the speed limit and enforcement times for each school that has the cameras.
