Forsyth childcare center’s license pulled after children allegedly given Benadryl
The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning revoked the license of Forsyth Methodist Church’s daycare on Monday, the state agency announced.
The revocation follows an investigation into the unauthorized administration of medication to children at the Forsyth Methodist Church Caring for Kids Center, where a staff member allegedly administered Benadryl to children before naptime last month.
“On March 10, 2025, DECAL was notified that a staff member at the Center dispensed over-the-counter Benadryl to three two-year-old children without parental authorization,” DECAL said in a press release.
Two teachers and the daycare director have been charged in the case, law enforcement and DECAL officials said.
Forsyth Methodist Church’s Caring for Kids Child Care Learning Center, which is located at 68 West Johnston St., has 10 days to appeal the revocation before an administrative law judge with the Office of State Administrative Hearings. If they don’t appeal, their revocation will be final, officials said.
“The center may not reopen until the appeal process is completed due to the previously issued Order of Emergency Closure,” the press release said.
In the meantime, parents affected by the closure can access alternative child care resources through the Georgia Quality Rated program at www.qualityrated.org.
