Remains found in wooded area identified as Macon woman. Circumstances under investigation
A Macon woman has been identified almost two months after her body remains were discovered in the woods, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Deputies got a call about “human remains (found) ... in a wooded area” off of Lower Hartley Bridge Road in Crawford County around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
A deputy responded to the scene and met with the person who found the remains, according to a news release.
The woman was identified as Gina Jo Ratliff, 56, according to an autopsy report by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab on Monday.
The sheriff’s office and GBI were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death Tuesday.
