Teenager killed in a Macon crash, sheriff’s office says. Another woman seriously hurt

A teenager died and a 20-year-old woman was critically injured in a crash Sunday morning in Macon, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 20-year-old Kia Soul driver hit a pole on Bloomfield and Rocky Creek roads, the sheriff’s office said. The crash was reported to law enforcement just before 4 a.m. Sunday. Only one vehicle was involved in the crash.

Jakayla Holman, a 19-year-old passenger was “ejected from” the compact car and pronounced dead on the scene, Coroner Leon Jones said. Holman was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley, and her family was notified.

An ambulance took the 20-year-old driver to Atrium Health Navicent, Coroner Leon Jones said.

“According to medical staff, she is listed in critical, but stable condition,” the sheriff’s office said.

The crash was still under investigation Monday. Anyone with information was urged to contact the sheriff’s office and ask to speak with a fatality investigator at 478-751-7500.
