Five people were shot when a man fired into a crowd outside a downtown nightclub early Saturday morning.
Two of the victims were treated and released while three are in stable condition, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release.
Jamel Ramon Nolton, 37, of Macon, was charged with five counts of aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
The victims were Nikeum Guyton, 22, Marquise Carswell, 26, Laterry Kendrick, 18, Davan Williams, 21, and Jascent James, 26, all of Macon. Carswell and Guyton were treated and released while the others are listed in stable condition. Deputies found three of the victims at the scene while two others were taken to the hospital by personal vehicle.

Witnesses said there was an altercation and a man fired into a crowd outside Grant’s Lounge on Poplar Street. Nolton was found near the scene and fit the description of the shooter, the release stated. He was taken in for questioning and gave a false name, the release stated, but he was later identified and charged with the shooting.
