The Bibb County School District says it is investigating after a Macon parent alleged her son was stabbed on a school campus.

On Tuesday night, parent Aoife Thomas shared on social media how the alleged event has caused distress for both her and her son, saying it was an act of long-term bullying. Thomas did not disclose the type of weapon that was used in her post.

The BCSD said it is aware of a social media post referencing a stabbing incident at Weaver Middle School.

“School officials met with the family yesterday morning. The incident is under investigation by school administrators, and school officials will follow all BCSD protocols for handling the matter,” BCSD spokesperson Stephanie Hartley told The Telegraph in an email.

Some parents of Weaver Middle School students shared online that they hadn’t been made aware about the stabbing.

Thomas could not be reached prior to publication for more information.

When asked about the incident, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office directed The Telegraph to the BCSD Campus Police.

In her post, Thomas said her son was attacked by a female student, who had been bullying him for a while on a daily basis. Thomas said her son left campus after the attack.

“My son left the school walking (because) the teacher wouldn’t help him, and an officer saw him on the side of the road and stopped. Took him to the school nurse whom cleaned his wound and bandaged him. The teacher never even reported him missing,” the post reads.

The BCSD prohibits bullying or cyberbullying of a student by another student, according to the district’s code of conduct.

The district’s bullying policy states, “Any report will be appropriately investigated by the administration based on the nature of the complaint in a timely manner to determine whether bullying has occurred, whether there are other procedures related to illegal harassment or discrimination that should be implemented and what other steps should be taken.”
