Allman Brothers Band members are reuniting for Macon concert to honor Dickey Betts
Macon is gearing up to celebrate one of its best-known musical talents this February with a concert in memory of Dickey Betts, guitarist and singer with the Allman Brothers Band.
A native of Florida, Betts was a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, which recorded some of its biggest records in downtown Macon at Capricorn Studios. Betts is best known for writing and singing the band’s 1973 hit “Ramblin’ Man.”
The upcoming concert, titled “In Memory of Dickey Betts,” features a lineup of classic Southern rock acts, modern country and rock artists, according to the Allman Brothers Band Facebook page. Former members of the band will also be there, including Jaimoe, Chuck Leavell and Warren Hayes.
The concert will take place Feb. 28 at the Macon City Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online, but they are selling fast at high prices. The lowest price available as of Tuesday morning was about $1,000.
