Timber mill work accident leaves 1 dead in Monroe County, deputies investigate
A person died Thursday at a saw and chip mill in Forsyth, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to a fatal “work-related accident” around 12 p.m. at Southern Forestry Industries, a wood processing facility on Old Macon Road, according to public information officer Anna Greene Watkins.
The incident is still under investigation, Watkins said. The sheriff’s office did not release additional details, including the victim’s name.
