Tree lightings, festivals and other holiday festivities happening in Macon, Middle Georgia
With the holiday season in full swing, Middle Georgia is ready with a slew of parades, light shows and other events to get locals in the Christmas spirit. Here are some of the festivities to look forward to.
Hay House Candlelight Tour
Macon’s Hay House, a historic house museum, will hold two self-guided tours of the house by candlelight. The tour will give guests a glimpse into holiday traditions of the past and allow them to see the house decorated for the season. Tour guides will be stationed throughout the house to answer guests’ questions.
The tours will take place on Dec. 6 and 14. Admission is $20 a person and guests can arrive between 5 and 8 p.m.
Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza
More than a million Christmas lights will dazzle downtown Macon throughout the month of December. The lights will be synchronized to Christmas favorites arranged and produced by the Macon Pops, an orchestra based in the city. See the show every night from 6 to 10 p.m. downtown until Jan. 5.
Macon Christmas Parade
The annual Macon Christmas Parade will return this year on Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. The theme for this year’s event is “Macon Christmas Jolly,” and the parade will feature floats. The parade will start at the Historic Macon Terminal Station, turn down Cherry Street and finish on Martin Luther king Jr. Boulevard.
Nutcracker of Middle Georgia
The Nutcracker of Middle Georgia will be returning to Macon’s Grand Opera House this December. The cast consists of performers from the Middle Georgia area who will perform five shows from Dec. 12 to 15. Tickets are $25-$35 and available online. See show times online as well.
Warner Robins Tree Lighting Ceremony
Warner Robins will kick off the holiday season with a tree lighting ceremony at Perkins Field. In addition to the tree lighting, the event will feature performances by local dance groups and choir groups and activities for children. The ceremony will kick off at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Warner Robins Winter Bazaar
Looking to find unique gifts for your loved ones this holiday season? Warner Robins will be hosting a winter bazaar featuring handmade gifts and pastries at Perkins Field. The bazaar will take place Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
Warner Robins Christmas Parade
The city of Warner Robins will host its annual Christmas parade on Saturday at 10 a.m. The parade will run from Davis Drive and Watson Boulevard to North Houston Road. This year’s theme is “Christmas in Toyland,” and the parade will feature floats and local performers.
Perry Christmas Parade
Perry will host its own Christmas parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Perry Christmas Parade will run through historic downtown Perry. In keeping with downtown Perry’s old-school charm, this year’s theme is “An Old-Fashioned Christmas,” and the city promises a “heartwarming and enchanting” experience, according to a Facebook post.
