Memorial service scheduled for late NewTown Macon CEO, ‘visionary leader.’ Here’s when.
NewTown Macon announced Friday the memorial service for late NewTown Macon CEO and President Josh Rogers, who unexpectedly died Sunday evening.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Willingham Hall’s Toney Auditorium on Mercer University’s campus. It will also be livestreamed on NewTown Macon’s Facebook page.
Rogers died unexpectedly on Nov. 24 from cardiac arrest during a routine run, NewTown Macon said Friday in a news release.
Under Rogers’ leadership, “downtown Macon became a thriving, award-winning hub of activity,” the non-profit organization said. “Locally owned and operated businesses now fill our storefronts, reflecting the rich diversity of our community.”
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Jack and Ellie Rogers Education Fund on the NewTown Macon website.
“Parking for the memorial service in Willingham Hall on the Mercer Campus is available in the Stadium Drive parking lot adjacent to OrthoGeorgia Park, across from the Hilton Garden Inn. Limited van shuttle service from the Stadium Drive lot will be available for those who need it beginning at 10 a.m.,” Newtown Macon said. “Parking is also available at the Oglethorpe Street lot in Tattnall Square Park and at Centenary Church on Ash Street on a first-come, first-served basis.
“It is recommended that all guests be parked by 10:30 a.m. to allow adequate travel time to Willingham Hall for the 11 a.m. service. A Mercer campus map is available here.”
