A Twiggs County resident died in a crash in Macon Wednesday morning, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened near the intersection of Finneydale Drive at around 10:25 a.m. The sheriff’s office said 44-year-old D’Mya Clark was driving a minivan west on Jeffersonville Road when they “appeared to have lost control” and collided with a tractor-trailer which was stopped in the central turning lane of the road.

The tractor-trailer was stopped because of a mechanical issue, and the driver was inside the lifted hood of the truck cab when the crash occurred. The truck driver suffered minor injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

Clark was pronounced dead on scene, the sheriff’s office said. Family had been notified of their death.

“This accident is under investigation,” the sheriff’s office said. “Anyone with information in reference to this fatal accident is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Fatality Investigators at 478-751-7500.”
