‘Active threat’ briefly causes shelter in place at Mercer University. What we know.

Mercer University in Macon underwent a brief lockdown Thursday afternoon, according to campus communications.

Just after 5 p.m., campus communications alerted Macon campus students and staff regarding an “active threat” being reported. Everyone at the campus was ordered to shelter in place until the Mercer Police Department gave the all-clear.

Campus communications quickly followed up on the alert, giving the all-clear and saying that a “domestic violence suspect is in custody.”
