A 68-year-old man died after being struck by a forklift at a Monroe County, Georgia farm, according to officials who are investigating.

A man was killed when he was hit by a forklift at a chicken house in Monroe County on Monday, officials said.

Deputies for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department were called to the incident at a farm at 543 Rumble Road in Forsyth at 7:04 a.m. Monday. They identified the victim as Gary Patterson, 68, of Fairmont.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the incident “does not appear to indicate foul play, however, this case is still under investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.
