Bibb County law enforcement want to prevent crime through camaraderie. Here’s how.

Neighborhood watch groups and law enforcement officials will host a three-day crime prevention rendezvous across Macon-Bibb County next week.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office invited people of all ages to its annual Night to Unite to bolster neighborhood camaraderie and “unite against crime,” a media release said. The main affair will have activities in 28 different locations across the county from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

These include indoor and outdoor pop-up activities such as neighborhood clean-ups, cookouts, flashlight walks, story time, children’s art, crime prevention programs and merchandise giveaways.

A pep rally and news conference will feature Mercer University cheerleaders, Soulful Ageless Dancers, Sheriff David Davis and neighborhood watch members on Monday at 1 p.m.

The first day of festivities kicks off Saturday, Sept. 14 featuring a golfing activity from 3-8 p.m. at 100 Clubhouse Road, according to Judy Gordon, a neighborhood watch coordinator.

“They’ll have putt-putt if weather permits, grilling, food and beverages, and activities for the children,” Gordon told The Telegraph.

County officials, firefighters, local businesses, faith groups, nonprofits and food and beverage franchises are collaborating on the event.
