Western boutique damaged in fire on Forsyth Courthouse Square. Here’s what we know.
A fire caused serious damage to a western boutique on the Forsyth Courthouse Square Tuesday night.
The fire broke out on the square around 10 p.m. Tuesday and Forsyth fire crews, as well as firefighters from Monroe County and Macon-Bibb, battled the blaze until the early morning hours Wednesday. No one was hurt in the blaze, according to the fire department.
“Please say a prayer for the Branded Starr Family during this time. We are distraught,” said Brandi Starr, the owner of the boutique. “We are so grateful no one was here as this took place. We know the Lord is in control. Please be patient with us as we take steps moving forward.”
Starr’s shop opened in 2022 and has been a unique staple of Forsyth ever since, offering trendy country attire, cow hides, boots, hats and more.
“My family have been cattle farmers since the 1800s, so everyone in my family from my great grandfather to my son has done that,” Starr said. “That branched out into selling Western decor and eventually gear.”
Several community members, patrons and surrounding residents took to Facebook to show their support and express sadness of the news:
“Prayers for my hometown and one of my favorite stores,” said Lynn Hampton Dean.
“My son and his son purchased hats and boots from you last week. We are all sad,” wrote Beverly Jackson.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our family at Branded Starr,” said members of the Forsyth-Monroe Chamber.
