Motorcycle crash leaves 1 dead, 1 injured on Monroe County highway, deputies say

A motorcycle crash left one person dead and another in critical condition Saturday in Monroe County, deputies said.

A pick up truck on Highway 87 collided with the motorcycle around 6:10 p.m., deputies said. The truck driver “attempted to turn into their driveway when a motorcycle attempted to pass,” a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The motorcycle driver was taken to a Macon hospital in critical condition. A passenger on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Investigators didn’t immediately release the name of the crash victim who died.
