I just tried the new tacos at Zaxby’s. Here’s what I thought & where to get them in Macon

It’s taco time at Zaxby’s.

The Georgia-based chicken restaurant unleashed the flavor this month with its new limited menu items: the Chipotle Ranch with Pico taco and the Avocado Ranch BLT taco.

When I first heard this news, I was drooling and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this new addition to the already delicious Zaxby’s menu. I mean, their famous fried chicken in a taco? Come on. That’s a winner, right?

Well, I’ll let you be the judge after reading my review.

Here’s what I thought of Zaxby’s new tacos

My review is split into two categories: taste and price. So, here’s what I thought:

Taste

I ordered from the Zaxby’s located in Forsyth (321 Cabiness Road) and unfortunately, I didn’t have time to dine inside, so I got them in the drive-thru. The service was pretty quick and after that, I headed home with a huge appetite.

When I got home, I popped open the tacos, which were packed individually in small to-go boxes. After I admired how delicious the tacos looked, it was time to dive in.

I tried the Avocado Ranch taco first, which had bacon and tomatoes on it. This one was everything I thought it would be: warm, full of chicken and it had a good crunch. I was glad the taco wasn’t cold and soggy since I ordered it in the drive-thru. However, I do think it could have had more of the avocado ranch sauce on it. There was a lot of chicken in the taco and because of that, I wanted more sauce to go with it. The sauce was also lackluster in flavor. I didn’t taste much avocado in the avocado ranch, so that was also a bummer. I did, though, appreciate the bacon because bacon makes everything tastier.

Next up, I tried the Chipotle Ranch taco. It also was still warm with crunchy fried chicken in the middle. This taco brought the heat with a little bit of spice from the Pico on top of the taco. However, I wanted more sauce on this taco as well because in all honesty, there was virtually no sauce on it. I actually found myself looking in the bag for extra sauce, so that might have been a good touch if it was included.

All in all, I give the tacos a 3 out of 5 for taste.

Price

The new tacos can be ordered a few different ways. There’s a combo meal with three tacos and a drink for $10.19 plus tax or you can order any one taco for $3.

I decided to just order one of each taco and my total was $6 plus tax. Not a bad deal for two fried chicken tacos. And let me tell you, the fried chicken on these tacos was not small. The chicken tenders included inside the tacos were large and each taco had a ton of toppings as well. So, for the price, I think these tacos were well worth it.

I give the price a 4.5 out of 5.
