One dead after car hits a utility pole in Macon. Intersection cleared, sheriff says
The intersection of Houston Avenue and Broadway has reopened following a crash that left one person dead and caused a closure at the intersection, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
A man driving a silver Nissan Altima southbound on Broadway lost control of his vehicle, and the vehicle went off the road and hit a utility pole, according to the sheriff’s office.
Upon arriving, deputies discovered Dmondo Eugene Simmons, 30, unresponsive.
Medical treatment was provided on scene, but Simmons died, the sheriff’s office said.
Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.
No one else was involved in the incident.
This incident remains under investigation, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s office.
