Telegraph earns 9 Ga. Press Association awards

JEKYLL ISLAND — The Georgia Press Association honored winners of its 2010 Better Newspaper Contest on Friday at the group’s annual convention at Jekyll Island.

Newspapers were judged in division based on circulation. The Telegraph, which competed against the likes of the Savannah Morning News, Augusta Chronicle and Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, won nine awards.

The individual winners were:

— Photographer Grant Blankenship, 1st place in the Best Photo Gallery on a Newspaper Web category;

— Reporter Liz Fabian, 2nd place in the Best Web Photo category;

— Reporter Joe Kovac Jr., 2nd place in the Feature Writing category;

— Business Editor Harold Goodridge, 3rd place in the Serious Column category;

— Photo Chief Woody Marshall, 2nd place in the Feature Photograph category, 3rd place in the Sports Feature Photograph category.

The Telegraph also won 3rd place in the Editorial Page category; 3rd place in the Layout and Design category; 3rd place in the Page One category.
