UPDATE: Motorcade for Rosalynn Carter, former first lady, passes through Macon
The motorcade carrying the body of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter passed through the outskirts of Macon early Monday afternoon on its way to Atlanta.
The motorcade proceeded on I-475 north through Bibb and Monroe counties, then rejoined I-75 north in Bolingbroke, headed toward Atlanta, finally stopping at The Carter Presidential Center, arriving at about 2:30 p.m.
The public was invited to pay respects as Mrs. Carter’s body lies in repose in the library-museum lobby from 6-10 p.m. Monday.
The body will be transported from Atlanta back to Plains on Tuesday, and funeral services are set for Wednesday.
