Man dies in Macon car wreck on Lower Thomaston Road near Lake Tobesofkee, police say
UPDATE — The man killed in a car wreck on Lower Thomaston Road near Lake Tobesofkee was identified as Omar Fagon, 50, Thursday afternoon, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Police notified Fagon’s family of his death, the statement said.
ORIGINAL — A man at the wheel of a Honda Accord died Wednesday afternoon after crashing into a pole in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at about 1 p.m. Wednesday when the man drove his Honda Accord east down Lower Thomaston Road near Lake Tobesofkee, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
At the intersection of Lower Thomaston and Mosely Dixon Road, the car went off the road and hit a utility pole. First responders took the driver out of the car and to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the statement said.
The driver, 50, was not identified in the statement because his family had not been notified Wednesday afternoon.
It was unclear in the investigation what might have caused the wreck. No one else was injured. The crash was still under investigation.
