A Fort Valley State University student died in his dorm room Tuesday night, officials said Wednesday.

Maleek Carter, 21, of Valdosta was found dead Tuesday in his dorm at Building 1 of Wildcat Commons, according to Peach County coroner Kerry Rooks.

Carter’s roommate came back to the dorm and found him in his bed. Rooks declared Carter dead at about 8:10 p.m.

The cause of death was unclear Wednesday, Rooks said. No criminal activity was suspected. Carter’s body will be sent to the GBI for autopsy.
