Mother and son found dead in Macon Tuesday hadn’t been seen for months, officials say

A mother and son were found dead in their home in the Bird City neighborhood of Macon Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The bodies of Hilda Archer, 64, and her son Terrance Archer, 33, were found on Heron Street near Eisenhower Parkway Tuesday afternoon and had been there for some time, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Deputies responded to a call from the Archers’ property manager on Heron Street when she found the door barricaded after going to inspect the apartment, according to an incident report from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The apartment manager said she sent a maintenance man through the back entrance, who found the bodies, the report said. The property manager hadn’t been in touch with Hilda, who paid for the property, since October.

The cause and time of death were still unclear Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office. The deaths were still under investigation.
