An Albany man and his passenger died in a car crash on Interstate 75 northbound Sunday morning in Macon, officials said.

The wreck happened at about 10:30 a.m. when Marc Bruno, 57, lost control of the Toyota Land Cruiser he was driving at the I-75 and I-475 intersection near Hartley Bridge Road, according to a statement from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Bruno was merging onto I-475 when he suddenly tried to get back onto I-75 and lost control, rolling the car “several times,” according to the release.

Bruno was taken to the hospital after the crash, where he was pronounced dead. DeAndre McGhee, 24, was in the passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene by Bibb County coroner Leon Jones.

Two other passengers in the backseat of the car were taken to the hospital after the crash and were in stable condition, the statement said. All four passengers were from Albany.

The next of kin had been notified, according Jones.
