Macon pedestrian, 71, dies Wednesday after being hit by a Chevy truck on Emery Highway

A Macon man was hit and killed Wednesday evening just east of Fort Hawkins on Emery Highway.

Larry Blash, 71, of Macon was struck by a Chevy pickup truck traveling west in the righthand lane of Emery Highway at its intersection with Schaeffer Place around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and has been told Blash stepped into the road in front of the truck.

Bibb County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley pronounced Blash dead at the scene and notified his next of kin.
