Man struck, killed by truck on Eisenhower Parkway is Bibb’s 12th pedestrian death of year

A 60-year-old Macon man died late Monday when he was struck by a westbound pickup truck on Eisenhower Parkway.

The 11:15 p.m. incident happened along the well-traveled thoroughfare just east of Interstate 475 near the Harrison Road intersection.

Bibb County sheriff’s officials said in a statement that the man who died was a “pedestrian ... in the roadway.”

Further details were not divulged.

Early Tuesday, Coroner Leon Jones identified the victim as Willie Lee Granville, who Jones described as a homeless man.

Granville’s death was the county’s 12th pedestrian fatality of the year, Jones said. There were 17 such deaths here in 2021.
