Macon man, 84, killed in Sunday wreck on Riverside Drive, Bibb sheriff’s officials say

An 84-year-old Macon man died Sunday of injuries sustained in an automobile crash at the intersection of Riverside and Northside drives on the city’s north side, Bibb County sheriff’s officials said Monday.

The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. at the well-traveled intersection, which overlooks Interstate 75.

The victim, Daniel Edward Casey, was at the wheel of a Nissan Rogue headed north on Riverside. Sheriff’s officials said that when Casey turned left toward Northside, his small SUV was struck by a southbound Ford Escape driven by a 64-year-old Macon woman.

Casey was pronounced dead a few hours later at a hospital. The driver of the Ford was said to be in “stable” condition.
