Macon one of country’s best places to work remotely. Here’s why.
More than five million Americans work remotely, according to RentCafe; and another 19 million are ready to follow suit.
If you live in Georgia or are looking to move to the Peach State for remote work, you will be pleasantly surprised.
In a study, RentCafe analyzed over 150 cities using 19 metrics such as cost of living, apartment rental rates, internet options and percentage of remote workers–and four of the top 20 cities are in Georgia.
Alpharetta, Georgia made the list at number six and Columbus was named eighth best place to work remotely.
Atlanta was listed at number 18 and Macon rounded out the top 20.
So, why is Macon number 20?
The south and southeast regions of the country dominated the top 10 but why?
Well, the south is known for sunny days, mild climates and good air quality, according to the study.
Macon specifically, is desirable because of its average square footage of the apartments in the city, the cost of living and the short-term rentals occupancy rate.
The city is also most loved for its historic downtown beauty and rich history in music, as the city has been home to Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers Band.
Macon is also known for the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, a prehistoric American Indian site which holds more than 10 millennia of culture.
