A Jones County man died in a car crash after his Nissan Frontier swerved off the road in Monroe County Wednesday morning, officials said.

Michael Frank Adams, 53, of Gray was driving his truck on Ga. Highway 87 near the rock quarry at about 7:30 a.m. when he veered off the west side of the road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe Adams then overcorrected, steering the truck back to Highway 87 before swerving too far to the east side of the highway and leaving the road again, hitting a tree. Adams was dead at the scene when deputies arrived.

No others were injured in the accident. The sheriff’s office did not know where Adams was driving and the crash was still under investigation.
