Cops release name of woman killed in late-night car wreck in downtown Macon

A 62-year-old woman was killed in a car wreck on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard early Thursday in downtown Macon.

The woman, Angela Dawn White, of Macon, was at the wheel of a northbound Kia Soul that slammed into the back of a Nissan Rogue that had slowed down in traffic ahead of her, Bibb County sheriff’s officials said.

The wreck happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. near MLK’s intersection with Pine Street, about four blocks south of Cherry Street.

Sheriff’s officials said in a statement that White’s car “collided into the back of the Nissan causing the Nissan to roll over.”

A passenger in White’s car and the driver of the Nissan were taken to the nearby Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately known.
