Police identify dead body found in ditch along highway in Crawford County

A man was found dead Tuesday afternoon by workers mowing grass along a highway just northwest of Musella in Crawford County, the sheriff there said.

No foul play was suspected, but the GBI was called in to help local authorities figure out where the man had come from and what may have happened to him.

The grim discovery was made at about 2:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 341 in an area of rolling farmland between Culloden and Roberta, some 20 miles due west of Macon.

Sheriff Lewis Walker told The Telegraph that his deputies were working with officers from “other agencies” and that an autopsy would be conducted on the body.

Thursday, authorities identified the body as Edward Lee Knight, 68, of Gwinnett County.
