Authorities on Tuesday identified the victims of a deadly truck wreck that happened Monday afternoon in western Bibb County.

46-year-old DeWayne Gibson, the truck’s driver, who was critically injured and the passenger, 25-year-old Summer Nicole Bennett, who died in the accident, were identified late Tuesday by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash site, in the 7100 block of Thomaston Road, which is also Georgia Highway 74, lies half a mile or so west of Lamar Road and north of Lake Tobesofkee.

Bibb sheriff’s officials said in a statement that the crash was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Monday when “a truck had a tire blow out and the driver lost control.”

The statement said the truck tumbled over and shot down an embankment.
