The Telegraph

A Macon man who rode his bicycle into the path of a logging truck Wednesday evening later died of his injuries, authorities said Thursday.

The victim, Melvin Butler, 62, had just wheeled away from a corner store at the intersection of Broadway and Antioch Road at about 5:30 p.m., Bibb County sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

The truck was turning north onto Broadway from nearby Mead Road, about a mile south of Eisenhower Parkway, when Butler “rode his bicycle into the rear tires of the (truck’s) trailer.”

Butler died of his injuries a few hours later at a local hospital.
