Severe weather from Wednesday continues today and tonight.

“A unique setup,” Meteorologist Ari Sarsalari says, is happening today as severe weather ramps up in the South late this morning and continuing into early evening.

Much of the South, including Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi, have scattered showers, gusty winds and “even a strong tornado or two,” Sarsalari said.

In Columbus, the severe weather will begin around noon and follow through into the night. Damaging winds and hail are expected. Large hail during some storms can occur.

Macon and other parts of Middle GA will see strong scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon, beginning around 2 p.m. and continuing into the night. Some storms are possible during the early morning hours.
