Car going wrong way on Houston County highway crashes, killing Macon woman

A 48-year-old Macon woman was killed in a head-on crash early Wednesday on Ga. Highway 96 in Bonaire, officials said.

Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin said the victim, Crystal Burney, was a passenger in a car that was apparently traveling the wrong direction on the four-lane highway at its intersection with Cartwright Drive, half a mile west of Moody Road and just south of Warner Robins.

Further details of the 2:30 a.m. wreck were not available.

Galpin said the car Burney was riding in was headed back to Macon and that the woman driving was from Atlanta.
