Fire damages Greek Corner Pizza on Vineville Avenue in Macon

A blaze ripped through the Greek Corner Pizza restaurant Wednesday morning at 3267 Vineville Ave. in Macon.

No injuries were reported.

The fire broke out shortly before 10 a.m. as the eatery was preparing to open for the day, interim Fire Chief Shane Edwards said.

Heavy smoke poured from the pizzeria as fire trucks rolled up.

“It looks like the fire at this point may have started in the kitchen,” Edwards said after the fire was extinguished.

Investigators were early in their examination of how the blaze may have started.

“It could be related to something cooking-wise,” the chief said, adding that no cause had yet been determined.
