Coroner identifies woman, man killed in apartment fire on Houston Avenue in Macon

A woman and a man were found dead early Tuesday in the wake of an apartment fire off Houston Avenue in southeast Macon, Bibb County officials said.

The cause of the 2 a.m. fire at EZ Green Apartments, formerly Colonial Terrace, at 3775 Houston Ave. was being investigated.

The bodies of the victims, Quajalene Murphy, 37, and Kedrick Dewayne Willis, 29, were in an upstairs apartment, said deputy Bibb coroner Lonnie Miley.

“The apartment was just engulfed in flames,” Miley said.
