Suspect who wore a blonde wig in Macon armed robbery taken into custody

An accused armed robber who attempted to disguise himself using a blonde wig, sun glasses and a black bandanna over his face has been arrested, police said.

Joshua Ryan Chambley, 30, of Macon, was charged with the 3 p.m. armed robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank at 150 Tom Hill Sr. Blvd. Monday, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

He’s accused of passing a clerk a note demanding cash and then fleeing on foot with the money.

Chambley was taken into custody just over 90 minutes later at the Sunoco Gas station located at 3910 Arkwright Road after a brief scuffle with deputies.

The stolen cash was recovered, according to the release.

Anyone with information in reference to the incident is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
